Our Team
Capitol Collegiate Academy is proud to recruit, employ, and retain a staff of professionals, committed to educating all students and to working towards our mission. We recognize that teacher quality has the most significant impact on student performance and therefore make it a top priority to recruit, select, hire, support, develop, and retain the strongest teachers, administrators, and support staff possible.
Our staff is deeply committed to ensuring that every CCA scholar gets to and through college.

Read on for five of the reasons our team will tell you they love Capitol Collegiate Academy.
-
Teachers trust and feel respected by each other. Our staff and teachers have strong professional and personal relationships. They will tell you that 100% of the team lives out our school’s values in their everyday work. Over 95% of staff commit to returning each year. Many have moved into instructional or other leadership roles over time. Everyone is moving in the same direction at CCA.
-
Teachers feel supported and developed. Our instructional coaches are experts in their content. They communicate a clear instructional vision, know what is going on in classrooms, and provide teachers with support planning, analyzing data, and more. Our Dean, along with our school counselor, does transformative work with students who need behavior or mental health support. Bottom line, teachers are not in it alone.
-
Teachers trust and respect leaders. We know leaders set the tone for a school. Our Principal has proudly led CCA since 2012, together with three talented Assistant Principals. Leaders have confidence in teachers’ expertise, look out for their personal welfare, and strive to make the school run smoothly. Leaders know every student by name and place the needs of our students first.
-
Teachers take responsibility to help improve the school. Teachers’ collective responsibility for CCA is off the charts! From developing a school sports program, helping select SEL curriculum, launching a school Equity Committee, or participating in hiring panels, (just to name a few), our teachers influence all aspects of the school.
- Teachers sustain over time. We are playing the long game. We care deeply about staff’s ability stay – and thrive – in this work, and we structure our program around it. Teachers have 2 hours of daily planning and prep time, and 17 non-student professional development / data days throughout the year. Everything from our departmentalized model, duty schedule, to modes of family communication support teachers to focus on teaching and protect their personal and family time in the evenings and on weekends.
