Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

A Stepping Stone to Lifelong Success

Why Transitional Kindergarten?

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) at Capitol Collegiate Academy is available for children who turn 4 years old on or before September 1, 2025. This program is a valuable bridge between preschool and kindergarten, offering young learners an additional year to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. TK provides children with the skills, confidence, and curiosity they need to enter kindergarten fully prepared for future success.

A Strong Focus on Literacy

Early literacy is the key to unlocking an excellent education, and it is the foundation on which all future learning is built. That’s why Capitol Collegiate devotes a significant part of each day to literacy instruction. In TK through 2nd grade, every student benefits from an additional foundational skills teacher who provides direct, small-group instruction in phonics and reading. This model lowers the student-to-teacher ratio to 1:8 during critical literacy blocks, ensuring children receive the focused attention they need to thrive.

Coordinated Curriculum and Consistency

Our TK program is fully aligned with Capitol Collegiate’s academic standards, creating a seamless journey from TK through 8th grade. Curriculum, instruction, and materials are carefully coordinated across grade levels, so students experience consistent, high-quality learning every step of the way.
