Our Results

ELA Achievement
A strong literacy foundation is key to Capitol Collegiate’s mission, and we are proud of our students’ English Language Arts (“ELA”) progress and achievement over time. In just 4 years, the percentage of students meeting, or exceeding ELA standards grew by nearly 20 percentage points.  In 2018-19, 62.69% of students met or exceeded ELA standards on the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (“CAASPP”).

Economically Disadvantaged Students
Capitol Collegiate exists to provide equitable opportunities for all students including those who have traditionally been underserved.  There is clear evidence that Capitol Collegiate’s economically disadvantaged students are achieving at or near the levels of its non-economically disadvantaged students. Further, economically disadvantaged students at Capitol Collegiate are performing at rates that are least twice as high as the comparison schools they may otherwise attend.

African American Student Achievement
Nationally, 18% of African American eighth graders are proficient or above in reading compared with 45% of white eighth graders. African America students bear the additional burden of low expectations and other biases stemming from institutional racism.  At Capitol Collegiate, 54.41% of African American students are proficient in ELA, more than twice that of the District and three times more than the comparison schools our African American students might otherwise attend.
